NOWSHERA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission was fully free andindependenttoputhand on any corrupt politician or bureaucrat without any influence, said MNA Imran Khattak.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that some corrupt elements were making hue and cry to avoid accountability.

Flanked by Liaquat Khattak, former PMA and brother of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, the MNA said that politicians had faced political accountability during the general elections 2013 as they were rejected by the voters. `Now they are facing legal accountability through courts,` he added.

The MNA, who is also district organiser of PTI, said that those elements were levelling baseless allegations against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to save their skin. `If they have any proofs about their innocence, they should bring it into the notice of Ehtesab Commission,` he said.

Mr Khattak said that Ehtesab Commission was formed with consensus of all political parties after passing a unanimous resolution in Khyber Palchtunkhwa Assembly.

About charges against former provincial minister and PPP leader Laiquat Shabab, the MNA said that peoplewere aware of his economic position when he was not a minister.

He said that PPP was presently in crisis and unpopular among people because of its corrupt leadership in the province. He said people were avoiding contesting local government elections on the ticket of PPP owing to its failed governance in the past.

He said that former provincial ministers of PTI Yaseen Khalil and Shaukat Yousafzai were removed from the cabinet for their poor performance and not on corruption charges.

However, in the same breath he termed the sacked ministers of Qaumi Watan Party corrupt, saying QWP leadership had realised that fact.

Speaking on the occasion, Laiquat Khattak, who was elected district councillor and aspirant for district nazim slot, said that Ehtesab Commission had not spared corrupt politicians even in PTI which showed its impartiality.

He said that Ehtesab Commission was endeavouring to arrest all those politiclans, government functionaries and corrupt elements, who had looted national exchequer with both hands.

To a query, he said the local government polls in Khyber Palchtunkhwa had proved the popularity of PTL The provincial government, he said, introduced the system of NTS for appointments in government departments on merit.
