Karak admin urged to renovate Town Hall

KARAK: The local elders and literati have demanded of the district administration to renovate Town Hall, the only place for holding cultural, political and official functions in Karak.

Tall(ing to journalists here on Tuesday, retired Captain Ahmad Jan, Mohammad Wali and Munawar Khan said that the Town Hall was in a dilapidated condition.

They demanded of the district administration to take notice of the worsening condition of the Town Hall.

They said that carpets, chairs and electric wiring of the hall were outdated and its sound system was out of order. They said that there was no arrangement of drinking water in the hall and the washrooms were not in usable condition. The elders said that special funds should be approved for the repair, whitewash and renovation of the hall.

WATER SHORTAGE: The residents of Karak city have complained about shortage of drinking water, saying tehsil municipal administration has failed to provide the required quantity of water to them.

The residents of the city includingTahirIqbal,Khalild Khan and Ahmad Nawaz said that out of five tubewells of TMA three were turned brackish and the remaining two could not fulfil the demand of the residents.

Asif Khan, an official of public health engineering department, when contacted, said that the demand of Karak city was more than 30,000 gallons of water per day while TMA and PHE were providing only 13,000 gallons of water to the residents in a day.

He said that the department was pondering over finding new sources of water tomeetitsincreasingdemand.

The residents said that more than 30,000 people of Karak city were forced to buy a gallon of drinking water at Rs15. They said that the drinking water should be supplied to Karak city either from Karak Dam or from Lawagher Dam. Correspondent
