LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) says ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif committed contempt of parliament by speaking ill of the Senate chairman.
`By criticising Sadiq Sanjrani Nawaz Sharif in fact humiliated the parliament,` PPP central Punjab chapter president Qamar Zaman Kaira said here on Tuesday.
He along with general secretary Chaudhry Manzoor was speaking at a press conference.
He told a questioner that like other parties the PPP too had reservations about the new delimitations and hoped that the Election Commission would resolve the same before the general election.
Answering a question regarding the NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance signed between Ms Benazir Bhutto and former army ruler Pervez Musharraf), Kaira criticised Mr Sharif for tendering a written apology (to the Musharraf regime back in 2000) to win freedom from imprisonment and go into exile.
Referring to the ex-premier`s statement admitting his fault of appearing before the Supreme Court in Memogate case against the then president Asif Ali Zardari, Kaira said Mr Sharif would understand historical facts but only with the passage of time.
He regretted that the government was torturing those who were forced to take to the streets to get their lawful rights and demanded that the administration resolve issues of lady health workers as party`s woman leader Samina Khalid Ghurki visited the LHWs` sit-in on The Mall to show solidarity with the protesters.-Staff Reporter
