LAHORE: One of the two brothers allegedly involved in the murder and possibly rape -of a 21-year-old woman who worked as a maid, was sent to jail on Monday following cancellation of his bail and a week-long physical remand.

The other suspect is on a pre-arrest bail till Sept 5.

The incident had occurred on March 4 when Muhammad Javed brother of the maid, `S`, received a call from one of the suspects (son of the maid`s employer), telling him that she had `killed herself`.

`S` had been working at the house of the father of the suspects in Bahria Town since 2017. Her body was discovered with a gunshot wound on the right side of her head.

Her family got registered murder case after the autopsy report ruled out suicide and pointed out that the girl had bruises on her body indicative of rape.

Javed said the police had asked them to file a case against the suspects after they staged a protest against her sister`s employers at the Jinnah Hospital when they came to know about the contents of the medical report.

The family accuses Sunder police of siding with the suspects. The police denies the charge.-Staff Reporter
