KHAIRPUR: A man and his wife were found murdered in a residential apartment on the premises of Khairpur Civil Hospital on Monday.

Neighbours believed Khair Mohammad Mirbahar, 58, first shot dead his wife Raheela, 32, and then killed himself as a pistol was also found lying near the bodies.

But police were cautious as to declaring it murder and suicide and said an inquiry would be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Mirbahar was line superintendent in Sukkur Electric Power Company who was recently transferred from Sukkur to Khairpur and his wife Raheela was a staff nurse at the hospital.

Mirbahar`s brothers and other relatives came to look for him at his house after they found his mobile phone number unresponsive. A foul stench emanating from the door bolted from inside made them suspicious and they broke it open only to find the couple lying on floor in a pool of blood.

They informed the area police who shifted the bodies to hospital for post-mortem. The bodies were later handed over to heirs.
