KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the federal authorities on a petition seeking removal of Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori from his office.

A two-judge constitutional bench comprising Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha and Justice Adnan-UlKarim Memon also put the attorney general and the advocate general of Sindh on notice to assist the court at next hearing.

The bench said in its order: `The main grievance of the petitioner is that he seeks removal of governor of Sindh on the basis that he made political statement,which does not fall within the purview of governor of the province. He has annexed USB to this effect.

The court issued notices to the respondents as well as to the federal and provincial law officers for Oct 8.

Citing the federation through the ministry of law and justice, the president through the secretary of cabinet division, the prime minister through the principal secretary of PM Secretariat and Mr Tessori as respondents, applicant advocate Ahmed Ali Gabol petitioned the SHC and sought directive for main respondents to remove the governor from his office.
