KARACHl: In a third major incident of its kind in the city within three days, another huge fire broke out in an industrial area of New Karachi in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The fire was extinguished after hectic efforts lasting for several hours, officials said.
The blaze erupted in a dyeing factory located in Sector 12-A of New Karachi Industrial Area.
A fire brigade official said that they were informed about the incident at around 11pm on Tuesday. Initially, they sent a few fire engines, but later on realising the gravity of the situation, more fire engines were called from various fire stations.
Around 10 fire engines managed to control the raging inferno at around 7.30am on Wednesday.
The fire official said that the blaze might have erupted owing to a short circuit.
Estimation of losses cannot be made immediately.
This was a third major fire incident in the metropolis during the last three days.
On Sunday morning, three floors of a multi-storey building in Clifton were destroyed when a fire erupted in a fast-food restaurant located there. On the same day, another huge fire destroyed a huge quantity of goods in a factory in F.B Industrial Area.
The fire was put out after hectic efforts lasting for around 24 hours.
