Anti-Muslim violence in India condemned

2020-02-29
LAHORE: On the call of the Pakistan Ulema Council, the clerics and religious scholars observed a `condemnation day` against anti-Muslim violence in India.

In their Friday sermons, they condemned the violence of Hindu extremist mobs against the Muslims, stating the minorities in India were living at the mercy of the Hindu fanatics. They said the basic human rights were being violated and mosques and worship places of the minorities were being burnt.

`Hindu fanatics are being supported by Delhi police and Delhi`s state machinery to target Muslims. In this situation when millions of Muslims are being targeted by Hindu mobs, silence on part of world organisations and human rights activists is very alarming and sorrowful.

The clerics and religious scholars urged on the United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to declare the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Hindu extremist organization Shiv Sena as terrorists organisations.

Leadership of the Pakistan Ulema Council, including Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Maulana Rafiq Jaami, Maulana Hagnawaz Khalid, Maulana Aslam Siddiqui, Maulana Zubair Zahid, Maulana Habibur Rehman, Qazi Matiullah Saeedi and Maulana Shafi Qasmi, addressed the public on Friday congregations in their respective districts and divisions.
