LAHORE: PML-Q, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-iIslam-F (JUI-F) leaders have urged the government to play the role of mediator in the Arab conflict and convene a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) to resolve the issue.

PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Husain said in a statement there was a need for looking for a justifiable solution to the Yemen conflict through the Arab League and OIC. He said Saudi Arabia King Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud had guts to resolve the crisis.

He expressed heartfelt sympathies for the Pakistanis stranded in Yemen and urged the gov-ernment to help them evacuate the region.

PTI Punjab Chief Ejaz Chaudhry, in a statement, said it was his party`s stance that Pakistan should not become party in the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

`Pakistan is already facing massive terrorism. And keeping in view this, we shouldn`t be a party,` he added.

JUI-F secretary information Maulana Muhammad Amjad Khan in a statement said `hidden powers` wanted to push Pakistan and other Islamic countries in the quagmire of Arab conflict . He said his party believed that the issue must be resolved through the OIC.

`We also want this issue to be discussed in a joint session of Parliament to see the consequences of sending our army to the Arab region,` he added.
