KARACHI: A suspected bandit was killed in an encounter with police in the Brigade area on Monday.
SSP East Irfan Baloch said a police team led by the Brigade SHO Inspector Nasrullah was on routine patrol when some area people approached and informed them about an armed bandit looting passers-by near Tonga Stand.
`A police mobile rushed to the scene and spotted an armed manin the area,` he said. `He fired shots at the police and then sped away on a motorbike. The police chased him and finally shot him after a brief exchange of fire. He died on the spot. We have recovered a pistol and a motorbike from his possession.
He said the deceased, identified as Mohammad Abrar, was wanted in several cases of robbery, street crimes, attempted murder, possession of illegal arms and extortion registered with the Korangi and Korangi Industrial Area police stations.
