MITHI: Most parts of Tharparkar and Badin received widespread rains for a second consecutive day on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms and strong winds accompanied two long spells of downpour that lashed Mithi, Chhachhro, Diplo, Islamkot, Dahli, Nagarparkar and many other towns in Tharparkar district and Badin (city), Tando Bago, Pangrio, Tando Ghulam Ali, Ghulam Shah and other towns in Badin district.

Hundreds of villages in the two districts also received heavy to moderate rain.

Residents of the rain-hit areas experienced frequent power outages throughout the day and in the evening.

The fresh spell appeared beneficial for Tharis who needed fodder and water for their animals but farmers in Badin faced heavy losses as their chillies, tomatoes and cotton crops was inundated and destroyed.
