peaking at a reception by the Inter University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences on Wednesday, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman said university campuses inspire a lot of ideas and can bring positive changes in the society by promoting peace, the rule of law, justice, democracy and freedom.

She said youth should take active part in all spheres of life and should lead initiatives for the betterment of society.

The first Yemeni and Arab Nobel laureate emphasised the importance of exchanging scholars, university faculty, and students and of joint academic programs with Arab countries, saying such exchanges and collaborative efforts will help address many common socio-economic problems faced by Pakistan and Arab countries.

She also spoke at a public talk jointly hosted by the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies and the Hanns Seidel Foundation on Thursday where she said those who supported the Arab Spring were supporters of peace and love.

`Dictators have created a lot of problems, including terrorism, which is why we have to challenge them, Earlier in the week, Ms Karman visited the Comsats Institute of Information technology where she spoke about women empowerment and human rights.
