LAHORE: The legal panel of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Tuesday concluded arguments before an anti-terrorism court in support of the party`s private complaint seeking trial of the prime minister, Punjab chief minister and others on charges of killing its workers in 2014 Model Town incident.

The panel led by Advocate Rai Bashir during the final arguments responded to the court`s query regarding delay in filing of the private complaint.

The counsel argued that the aggrieved party was availing other remedies of the law before filing the complaint. He said the government kept the party engaged with false promises of justice with families of the deceased workers and the injured.

`We also waited for the report of a judicial inquiry held by a judge of theLahore High Court,` the lawyer said. However, he added, the report was yet to be released.

The court reserved verdict on the complaint. The decision is lil(ely to be announced on Feb 3.

Jawwad Hamid of Idara Minhajul Quran/PAT had filed the complaint in March 2016. The party presented 56 witnesses before the court and also submitted video record of the incident. PAT Secretary-General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur also testified and held the PML-N rulers responsible for the killings.

Others whose trial has been sought include Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khwaja Asif, Railway`s Minister Khwaja Saad Rafiq, former information minister Pervez Rashid, state minister Abid Sher Ali, MNA Hamza Shahbaz, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and IGP Mushtaq Sukhera.
