Nine killed in multiple road accidents

KOHAT/MANSEHRA/CHARSADDA: Nine persons were killed in separate road accidents on Friday.

Four persons were killed and six others injured when a truck hit a Karachi-bound passenger coach at the toll plaza near the Kohat Friendship Tunnel.

After the strike, the passenger coaster ran over the cabin of toll collection and two cars standing in a lane.

The bodies and the injured were taken to the KDA teaching hospital where after autopsy they were handed over to relatives.

The dead were identified as Jamil Pur, the truck driver, his son Darya Khan, nephew Sher Mohammad and cleaner Laiq Khan.

A case was registered in the Mohammad Riaz Saheed police station and the bus driver was arrested. In Mansehra, a tourist from Jacobabad Sindh was killed and another sustained critical injuries when a heavy mudslide fell over them near Kaghan.

Body of the victim, Sundeep Kumar, 21, was retrieved and shifted to the civil hospital in Balakot, Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, the district health officer Mansehra, told reporters.

Both Kumar and his cousin Mohan Lal, 12, were taking selfies at a picturesque place in Lambi Patti area when a heavy mass of mud detached from a mountain fell on them.

In another incident in Shogran a heavy rock fell on tourist Amanullah, critically injuring him.

He was rushed to civil hospital in Balakot where doctors pronounced him as dead.

In Charsadda, a man, his wife and a son were killed when a tractor hit their motorcycle in Major Qala area of Shabqadar tehsil.

The victims were named Qari Imdadullah, his wife and son Emadur Rehman. The tractor was being driven by an underage boy.
