KARACHI: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has informed the Sindh High Court that all-out efforts are being made to ensure smooth water supply in the city in compliance with court`s order.
KWSB Executive Engineer Ghulam Mohammed appeared before a two-judge bench, headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar, and submitted the reply of thewater utility in a contempt of court case against them.
The water utility officer said there was acute shortage of water in the Hub dam, but the KWSB was making efforts to ensure smooth water supply in the city.
The contempt of court application against the water utility was filed by the residents of Sector 5-C, North Karachi, who said that they were not supplied water despite the court orders.They said that the court had directed the deputy managing director of the technical services of the water utility on March 25 to ensure water supply to them within 25 days. However, the residents said, the water utility did not comply with the court order and they were not supplied water.
They said that KWSB`s failure to supply water to their locality was tantamount to contempt of court as the court`s clear-cut orders were flouted.
