Acid thrown on stepdaughters

KASUR: A man allegedly threw acid on his two stepdaughters at New Abadi on Halla Road in the limits of Pattoki police station on Friday.

Reports said that accused Aslam wanted to get married Javaria with a dumb and deaf man, Imran, but the girl rejected the proposal.

On Friday, accused Aslam threw acid on Javaria when she was asleep with her 10-year-old sister Malika.

Consequently, both sisters suffered burn wounds.

Police have registered a caseagainst Aslam and his former wife Kulsoom Bibi on the report of Arshad Bibi, the mother of victims.

Police later arrested accused Aslam while raids were on for the arrest of his former wife.

DEMO: Lesco officials of Chunian sub-division demonstrated on Friday against lawyers for allegedly manhandling their colleague on the premises of tehsil courts.

They blocked the Chhanga Manga-Chunian Road in front of the Lesco office and demanded legal action against lawyers. Reports said that lawyer Muhammad Naeem along with his four colleagues manhandled Lesco official MuhammadBabar over a trifle on Thursday.

The protesters dispersed when the City Chunian SHO assured them that action would be taken against the lawyers.

LOOTED: Five gunmen deprived a family of cash and gold worth about Rs450,000 at Murtaza Town on Halla Road in the limits of Pattoki police station on Friday.

Reports said that armed men entered the house of Muhammad Ashig by scaling its boundary walls and held the family hostage. The intruders collected Rs30,000 in cash, eight tolas of gold ornaments and two cell phones and escaped with the booty.
