Forest institute
2017-02-05
THE Pakistan Forest Institute in Peshawar is the mother training centre of our forester community. This national centre of higher learning and research was transferred to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by ignoring the national importance of forestry.
The foresters` community was shocked to know the demotion of their mother institute from an international institute to a provincial one.
We are pained to hear the stories of decline in research, training and administration. Many colony houses are occupied by outsiders. A large research areahas been gifted and convertedinto a zoo. Many professionals have quit jobs.
It is time the foresters` association rescued their mother institution from rampant mismanagement. The PFI should be managed under the federal setup.
