TIMERGARA: Jamaati-Islami deputy chief Prof Ibrahim has said Pakistan is a sovereign state and it should refuse accepting any aid or assistance from the US while submitting to its dictates.

Addressing the party`s monthly congregation at Ahyaul Uloom Balambat here on Thursday night, he asked the federal government to take national leadership into confidence after US President Donald Trump`s threats and call a joint session of the parliament to form an independent policy to effectively defend the country from external threats.

He said the UN resolutions against the US showed that Washington was losing its clout in theworld affairs, addingitwas time Pakistan announced an independent foreign policy. He said Pakistan was fighting a war imposed on it by the US for its own interests, and instead of acknowledging the sacrifices Washington always demanded of Islamabad to do more.

`The nation would stand united against any aggression of the US,` Prof Ibrahim said, adding Trump was bent upon destroying peace of the world by recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

He said all the component parties of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would collectively contest the upcoming general elections under the banner of MMA and it would yield positive results not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in the country.
