Women await CNICs for vote registration

SHANGLA: Over 3,000 women in rural areas of the district are yet to be registered with the National Database and Registration Authority while they need the national identity card so as to be able to cast their vote in the next elections.

It was stated by Women NIC and Voter Registration Campaign project manager Ijaz Durrani during a press conference at Shangla Press Club in Alpuri the other day.

He said that according to the election commission’s assessment about 3,370 women in the district were not registered with Nadra.

Mr Durrani said under the project the women were now being registered with the support of Nadra and Election Commission of Pakistan. He said the project would continue till May 2018 in the district.

He said that pick-and-drop facility would also be provided to the women from hilly areas to bring them to the nearby Nadra registration centres.— Correspondent
