Lakki schools get more teachers

LAKKI MARWAT: As many as 38 teachers have been appointed in government girls` primary schools in the district.

`The appointments have been made on the recommendations of a departmental selection committee under the school-based policy,` said an official, adding that the fresh recruitment would help overcome the shortage of teaching staffin the local girls` schools.Citing the notification, the official said that the district education department had appointed seven teachers against vacant posts of primary teachers in union councilI, five teachers in UC Masha Mansoor and three teachers each in union councils Lakki-II, Paharkhel Thall, Nar A bu Samand Begukhel and Samandi. He said that female primary teachers had also been appointed in Begukhel and Shal(h Quli Khan union councils besides other areas.

He said that the new appointments had been made on contract basis for one year.ARRESTED: Police arrested two men after they fired shots at the house of a retired revenue official in Lakki city on Friday.

A police official said that two armed men, identified as Asmat and Qaisar, came on a motorcycle and opened firing on the house of retired tehsildar Gul Nawaz. He said that apparently a monetary dispute between the attackers and Nawaz`s son Gul Rauf led to the incident.

He claimed that police had also seized a pistol and bullets from the two suspects.
