LAHORE: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Punjab, has issued a highalert, warning for an intense heatwave expected to grip the province from June 7 to 12, coinciding with Eidul Azha celebrations.
Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed directed all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners and relevant departments to implement emergency measures to mitigate risk posed by the heatwave.
According to meteorological advisories, daytime temperatures in central and upper Punjab may soar by 5-7 degrees Celsius above normal, while southern parts of the province will experience a 4-6 degrees Celsius spike, accompanied by dust storms and gusty winds.
The heatwave poses severe health risks, particularly to children, the elderly, and outdoor workers. Staff Reporter
