CHINIOT: A criminal was killed in gunfire by his own accomplices late on Friday in Chak 126-JB, police said.

PolicehadarrestedRashid in Dera Gahzi Khan on Thursday in a police encounter case registered in 2016.

The police said they were carrying him to Chak 126JB to recover some arms late on Friday when his four accomplices on motorcycles intercepted the police and snatched a rifle from constable Qaisar Ali. Gunfire erupted and when smoke cleared after half an hour, Rashid was found 1(illed.

The attackers ned leaving two motorcycles and snatched submachine gun and a pistol behind.

District Police Officer Mustansar Feroz said Rashid was wanted in rape, dacoity, murder and bomb attack on Dera Ghazi Khan police cases. He was wanted by Chiniot police in a police encounter where two criminals were killed.
