Four men masquerading as policemen kidnap trader

GUJRANWALA: A trader of the cloth market was kidnapped by four men posing themselves as police officials of the special branch in Kotwall here on Wednesday.

Reports said that Mehmood Ahmad was present in his shop when unidentified men came there and took him away with them.

When trader`s family approached special branch superintendent Muhammad Afzal Butt, they were told that no of ficial was sent to the shop.

Sabzi Mandi police have registered a case against unidentified men and are investigating.

STATEMENT RECORDED: A local anti-terrorism court recorded on Wednesday the statements of ASI Ashfaq Ahmad, moharrar Zulfikar Ahmad and constable AbdulRehman in a murder case of Daska bar president Rana Khalid Abbas and his associate lawyer Irfan Chohan and adjourned the hearing till July 11.

Former SHO Shehzad Warraich`s counsel Shehzada Mazher could not appear in court and the accused hired the services of advocate Usman Gil.

GRANTED: Another anti-terrorism court judge granted on Wednesday a two-day physical remand of PML-N`s Ghakkhar Town vice-president Zahid Inayat Butt alias Tuma Butt in an extortion case.

Reports said that Aroop Town police had arrested Inayat Butt along with his three men Amanullah, Sanaullah and Taj from his residence in an extortion case.

Police produced them in the court and requested for five-day physical remand, but the court gave only twoday physical remand.
