SHEIKHUPURA: An alleged proclaimed offender was killed in an `encounter` by Muridke Saddar police on Wednesday.

Police had arrested Shafgat alias Baga a few days back over his alleged involvement in about 16 heinous cases. He was wanted by Muridke and Gujranwala police.

Police were escorting Shafgat to a crime scene torecover the booty. Near a nullah, some of his accomplices allegedly attacked the police team to get him released. In the ensuing crossfire, Shafgat was killed, while the assailants escaped.

ACCIDENT: Twentyfive people were injured when a van skidded of f the road and fell into a ditch near Chand Bagh School on Wednesday.

The vehicle was on its way to Muridke from Sheikhupura when it met with the accident.
