Two die, three injured after falling from train`s roof

CHINIOT: Two passengers died, three others injured as they fell off the roof of a train they were travelling by after they got entangled in wires hanging over the tracks on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122 of ficials, the passengers, who were returning to their native areas to celebrate Eid, were travelling on the roof of LahoreMianwali train because of nonavailability of tickets.

They said as the train reached near Chiniot railway station, the passengers sitting on its roof got entangled in some wires hanging over the tracks and fell down.

As a result, two of the passengers, identified as Naveed (30) and Waqar Hussain (35), both residents ofMianwali district, died on the spot, while Rajab Shah; Amir H amza and Ali Arshid were injured.

On being informed incident, Rescue 1122 ambulances reached the spot near Mohallah Ghafoorabad and shifted the dead bodies and the injured to the district headquarters hospital.

The injured passengers told Dawn that they were returning to their native areas in Mianwali district to celebrate Eid with their families. Due to the rush, they could not get tickets and decided to sit on the train`s roof.

They said the accident occurred near Chiniot railway station.

GIR L DIES: A minor girl died and two youths injured in a road accident involving two motorcycles and a bus near grain market on Faisalabad Road.

Rescue 1122 of ficials said the two motorcycles collided head on with a passenger bus coming from opposite direction. As a result, four-yearold Hijab, who was on one of the motorcycles died on the spot. She was daughter of Muhammad Yar, a resident of Burj Mandi, Faisalabad district.Meanwhile, two youths --Azhar and Nayab -of the same village sustained serious injuries and were shifted to the DHQ hospital by Rescue 1122 ambulance.

DBA: The Chiniot District Bar Association (DBA) gets Rs250 million from Punjab government for construction of new judicial complex and lawyers chambers.

It was announced at a DBA meeting chaired by president Ashraf Gujjar here on Friday.

The meeting decided to provide Rs100,000 as death grant and Rs50,000 accidental injury grant to the bar members in need of such assistance.

The meeting also decided provision of Wifi f acility on district courts premises and launch of a software for automation of bar accounts and funds disbursement.

The meeting revived Rs1,500 fee for Wakalat Nama, which will be shared by the concerned lawyer and the bar.

It also decided to renovate the main gates of the district bar according to historical background of Chiniot city.
