OKARA: A brick kiln owner and his employee were booked on Friday for violating child labour laws.

Labour inspector Shafgat Muneer conducted a raid at Niaz`s brick kiln at Gulshan Freed Colony in Deepalpur and booked him as well as his associate Abbas Bhatti for employing minors Adnan, Nadeem and Faizan during school time.

A case was registered at Deepalpur City police station under Punjab Prohibition of Child Labour at Brick Kilns Ordinance 2016.

OBITUARY: Senior Muslim League leader and journalist, Advocate Rana Akbar Joyia, passed away after a protracted illness. He was 60.

His funeral prayers were attended by a large number of villagers, lawyers and other social and political personalities, including Punjab Bar Council member Akhtar Hussain Bhatti, District Bar Association President Zahid Bukhari, Secretary Rai Iqrar Kharal, Renala Tehsil Bar Association President Chaudhry Asif Shahzad and former Supreme Court Bar Secretary Muhammad Aslam Zar, Aslam Tahirul Qadri and Chaudhry Shahid Saleem. He was laid to rest in his native village 18/1R.
