Burewala student murder Headmaster, four teachers suspended

VEHARI: Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhatti on Friday suspended from service the headmaster and four teachers of Burewala`s Government Model MC High School, where a student was tortured to death by a class fellow on Aug 30.

Ahmed Raza, a ninth class student, kicked and punched his class fellow Sheron Masih who died at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, police said.

Acting headmaster Muhammad Iftikhar told Dawn over phone that the deputy commissioner had suspended headmaster Saleem Tahir, class teacher Nazir Mohal, Dildar Aslam, Ejaz Aslam and Muhammad Ramzan till the completion of an inquiry.

The committee com-prising Bashir Ahmed, headmaster of the Government Islamia High School, Vehari, and Muhammad Asim, deputy education officer, would complete the inquiry within a few days, Assistant Director (Education) Muhammad Aslam said.

He said the committee visited the school and met students and teachers to glean information.

Earlier, Model Town SHO Sadiq Khan said the prime suspect had been arrested and sent to judicial lockup.

He said the autopsy reportofthedeceasedhad been handed over to the family though it did not mention the cause of death.

Police had registered a case under section 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against Ahmed Raza and his accomplice.
