Robber with Rs7m head money killed

MUZAFFARGARH: A dacoit carrying head money worth Rs7 million was killed while a constable sustained injuries in an encounter at Rohillanwali on Monday morning.

According to a police spokesperson, the robber, identified as Munir alias Mani Baloch, had 62 serious cases registered against him, including attempted murder, dacoity, and robbery. Acting on intelligence about the dacoitgang`s movements, the Rohillanwali station house officer set up a roadblock.

Upon spotting the police van, the gang opened indiscriminate fire. In response, the DSP Saddar Circle, along with a heavy police contingent, rushed to the scene, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

During the encounter, police constable Asim sustained injuries, while Munir Baloch was critically wounded. A police vehicle was also damaged in the crossfire.

Munir succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.

Police recovered a motorcycle and an automatic rifle from the deceased, while his accomplicesmanaged to escape. Munir`s body was sent for postmortem and injured constable Asim was shifted to the hospital where he is said to be stable.

GAS BOWSERS: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner QuratulAinMemon,CivilDefence Officer Sehrish Irshad took action against gas bowsers failing to comply with safety measures.

Following public complaints, gas bowsers parked near Noshahi Hotel and Restaurant in Rangpur were immediately removed on Monday. Sehrish Irshad warned that strict action would be taken against those who fail to follow safety protocols.
