THIS is apropos Muddassir Rizvi`s article `Elite democracy` (April 7). While the people`s representation on the basis of geography, ethnicity, language and religion is inevitable, their economic representation is the most ignored matter.

The dailylifeinterests ofthe people vary on the basis of economic standing. For the rich, the price of potatoes and other food items might matter the least, but for the poor it`s a question of survival.
