THIS is apropos the letter `Remembering leaders` (April 24). The writer has rightly suggested that public holidays on the birth and death anniversaries of the founders and builders of Pakistan should be restored.
I would further add that because of prejudices and polarisation, the first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan`s name was omitted from the first group of leaders of the Pakistan Movement and in early 1950s his name was never mentioned anywhere.
In school and college books, where there were articles of various famous persons, Liaquat Ali Khan`s name and achievements were and still are being deliberately and unjustly neglected, played down and suppressed.
In Dawn`s Jan 30, 2014, issue`s Fifty Years Ago column, your newspaper had re-printed the protest remarks by Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan on Jan 30, 1964, that `snub hurts Rana Liaquat.
