A MUSLIM, Sadiq Khan a bus driver`s son becoming London`s mayor proves his mettle. Despite the migrants crisis, the terrorists attacks on France and Belgium, the tarnished image of Muslims in the West and in the election campaign`s last stagesthe smear campaign against Sadiq Khan labelling him anti-Semitic by opponents couldn`t tarnish his integrity and reputation.
This is not just the victory of a single man or ethnic group but the triumph of Britain`s democratic culture. Hopefully, Mr Khan will be a role model and true administrator like Mr Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam since 2009.
Pakistan must also learn from this flourishing democratic cultural system and empowering institutions.
