Bajwa`s visit

2017-09-11
ARMY chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa`s stance at the Quadrilateral CounterTerrorism Coordination Committee meeting held in Tajikstan is a step in the right direction.

Unfortunately, in the past such ef forts floundered because of trust deficit. This time it is for the member countries and their governments to maintain the trust and coordinate with each other to resolve thisissue.

Terrorism is a transnational issue and cannot be handled alone. Intelligence sharing and coordinated border management is in the interest of the entire region.

Since India is unwelcome owing to its hegemonic designs, Iran should be invited to participate in this venture, as integration of regional powers is crucial for stability and prosperity.

Terrorism can only be stamped out through a multi-pronged strategy, but it is our politicians who need to play a pro-active role diplomatically as well as institutionally, as it is they who hold the keys to peace and stability.
