`Law education standard deteriorating`

By Our Staff Reporter 2017-05-12
LAHORE:Former chief justice of Federal Shariat Court, Mahboob Ahmad, says the standard of law education is deteriorating.

Speaking at a seminar on `provision of swift justice` here on Thursday, he said quality education was not being imparted to the law students. The lawyers must be trained to provide swift justice to the people and steps should be taken for provision of quality education to the law graduates, he added.

Bushra Rehman, Absar Abdul Ali, Dr Asif Mahmood Jah and retired Gen Rahat Latif were also among the participants.

The speakers said amendments to the law should be made and a Qazi should be appointed at each union council. Separate courts should be established to hear political cases as they (courts) were under huge burden and they had not had much time to hear non-political cases.
