IMAGES and pictures speak much more than words. I congratulate the Dawn team for depicting the picturesque historical information of Pakistan on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.
The first picture swears for those two million poor people with tattered clothes and bare feet who sacrificed their lives during the ensuing communal violence. All other pictures show the leaders belonging to elites, the richest, nawabs and well-to-do families.
In reality, there is no change in the situation after 70 years of independence.
Thousands ofinnocentPakistanishave been killed by Muslim terrorists during 2001-17. The rights of minorities are being suppressed and sectarian and ethnicviolence is stillprevailingin society.
All the present leaders, including Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Imran Khan, have their homes, flats, properties, businesses and offshore companies in foreign countries. Their children and siblings study and live abroad. Unluckily, leaders did not fulfil the dream of Jinnahand Iqbal to create a welfare state, progressive, minority-friendly and peaceful. They created a system based on cruelty.
