THE first anniversary of the martyrdom of freedom fighter Burhan Muzzaffar Wani passed on July 8. He was martyred last year in an encounter fighting like a tiger in occupied Kashmir.
Burhan`s bravery and just struggle to liberate Kashmir continued for several months. The Indian government and its army remained in fear during Burhan`s fighting.
A sum of one million rupees was the money announced on his head. Burhan never surrendered. He followed the motto of Tipu Sultan -that it`s better to live a day`s life like a lion than live for 100 years like a jackal. And he did what he had sworn.
Burhan is no more in this mortal world but he left a lesson for every Kashmiri thatno matter how big and strong an occupation army, it`s only your will and faith that win.
His sacrifice will add more weight to the movement for the liberation of Kashmir.
