Street crimes

2017-03-14
IT seems the epidemic of street crime is beyond the control of relevant lawenforcement agencies, and that the plea of a police of ficial that such activities have decreased is a misconception.

The most affected areas are 7D/3, 7D/2 and 7D/1 of North Karachi, under the jurisdiction of Sir Syed Police Station, where culprits and criminals prowl unhindered to achieve their ulterior motive. They don`t even spare women, children, students and senior citizens. In fact, the muggers do not have the slightest compunction about pressing the trigger at the slightest hint of resistance.

In 2016, over 34,000 mobile phones were either snatched or stolen across Karachi.

We hope some high police of ficial will pass orders to the SSP concerned to ensure regular surprise visits by police officials to streets, bylanes and service lanes in surrounding areas where ATM machines are installed. Moreover, a strategy should be chalked out to discourage the easy sale of old mobile phones.
