Slain man identified as JSMM`s `missing` activist

KARACHI: A youth found shot dead in the Bin Qasim area on Wednesday was identified as a `missing` worker of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), police said on Thursday.

The body of the man in his early 20s was found near Bugti Goth in the Bin Qasim area. A chit was found in his pocket, which identified him as Roshan Ali Brohi from Larkana.

A Bin Qasim police of ficial on Thursday told Dawn that relatives took away the body from the Edhi morgue at Sohrab Goth. He said they told the police that Roshan was taken away from Lahori Mohalla in Larkana around two weeks ago and he was a worker of the JSMM.

The relevant Civil Lines police, Larkana, wereinformed about the incident. His father, Mohammed Panah, is a head constable in the police there and had also informed the `Madadgar 15` police about his son`s disappearance and the police had made an entry (number 26) of it in their record in Larkana.

The victim`s father had also approached the Larkana deputy general of police and other senior officers for his son`s recovery, said the Bin Qasim Town police officer.

Suspect kille d in `encounter` A suspect allegedly wanted in the murder of the Preedy SHO was shot dead in an alleged encounter in Madina Colony, Baldia, on Thursday night, police said.

The police had arrested Arslan a few days back inthe murder case of inspector Ghazanfar Kazmi, killed in August in the Garden area, said KarachiWest SSP Irfan Baloch. On the lead given by the suspect, the police conducted a raid for arrest of another suspect in Madina Colony, where they were fired at and in the `retaliatory firing,` the suspect, identified as Riaz, was killed, added the officer.

He claimed that the dead man was the main accused in the police officer`s murder case. Two other suspects, Omer Zaman and Anwar, were absconderinthecase.

The police officer was killed to `avenge` the arrest of Omer Zaman in a fraud case of Rs10.5 million committed in the textile mills office at Mehdi Tower in 2012. Inspector Kazmi was the investigation officer as being an FIA official in the case. Omer Zaman targeted the officer after being released from prison, said the SSP-West.
