LARKANA: A man and his two sons were gunned down, ostensibly by their rivals in a property dispute, in Qaim Khan Chandio village of Larkana district.

The victims were identified as Allahdino Chandio, 60, and his sons, Nadir Ali, 30, and Kamal, 19.

According to their neighbours, a group of armed men stormed their way into Chandios` home in the early hours of Tuesday, opened an indiscriminate fire on them and sped away. The victims died on the spot.

Officials at the Mirokhan police station said that Allahdino had an old land and blood dispute with some of his in-laws. They said Allahdino was accused of killing his two brothers-in-law in the heat of the land dispute in 2010. The triple murder was very likely to have been committed to avenge the double murder, they added.

The police shifted the three bodies to the area`s taluka hospital for a postmortem examination and then handed them over to the heirs.

They said a raid was carried out on the killers` suspected hideout in Mohammed Bachal Chandio village, falling within the remits of the Mahi Makool police station of Qambar-Shahdadkot district but they were not found there.

Residents of the village told the police that they (the suspects) abruptly left the village for some unknown destination.

Larkana DIG Nasir Aftab Pathan has ordered the Qambar-Shahdadkot SSP, Sajid Amir Sadozai, to ensure immediate arrest of the suspects and deploying a strong police force in the area to avert further bloodshed.

He also asked the SSP to take measures to defuse tension.

It was stranged that the revenge was taken 14 years after murder of the two brothers, who happened to be close relatives of the accused, No suspect of the fresh incident could be arrested nor was an FIR of the incident registered at the police station.
