LAHORE: A woman and her two minor daughters were killed while her son injured after the roof of their house collapsed due to rain in Manawan here on Thursday.
Reports said that Sumbal, 35, wife of Naseem Abbas of Tejgarh village, her daughters Chandni, 8, and Afshan, 6, were killed and her son Chand, 17, suffered injuries when the roof of their dilapidated house caved in after the wall of a neighbouring house fell on it.
Police said all the victims got trapped under the debris and a rescue team retrieved the dead and injured from the rubble. The injured were shifted to Services Hospital where Sumbal and her daughters died while the condition of Chand was said to be out of danger.
Manawan Sub-Inspector Arshad said that a newly-constructed five to six feet high wall of the adjoining house fell on the roof of the neighbouring house due to a windstorm and rain.
He said police were awaiting the complainant to register a case against the owner of the adjoining house.
In another incident, a woman and her son were injured when the roof of their house collapsed due to rain in Burki.
Kanwal, wife of Alamgir, and her son Ahmed were injured who were pulled out of the debris by a rescue team. They were shifted to a hospital where the condition of Kanwal was said to be critical.
