SWABI: Police arrested three people on the charges of their involvement in illegal excavation of far-flung Nazar Banda archeological site in Razaar tehsil here on Wednesday.

Giving details, district police officer Javid Iqbal said that Nazar Banda located in Ismalia area of Razaar tehsil was one of the rich archeological sites in the district and the police had already taken steps to discourage illegal excavation in the area.

He said that the arrested people had excavated some area, but following a tip-off the police thwarted their plan and also seized instruments of excavation from them. In this regard, Razaar DSP Bashir Dad said that officials of Atam police post had arrested Ameer Zaman, Mohabat Shah and Mohammad Wahab, all residents of Mardan. A case has been registered against them under the relevant law.

KILLED: Two people were killed and two others injured in separate incidents here on Wednesday.

Police said that Zakir Ali, who allegedly exchanged harsh words with accused Shamasul Qamar a day before, was shot dead in Zakarya village.

A young man, identified as son of Khan Bawarchi, was killed in a road accident here at Safdar Chowk. Police said that after a collision between two motorcycles a car crushed Bawarchi`s son to death while the second motorcyclist and car driver were injured. Correspondent
