Differences surface in ANP Lower Dir

TIMERGARA: Internal differences surfaced in AwamiNationalParty,LowerDirchapter,onWednesday when its vice-president Iftikhar Ahmad and secretary information Malik Shafiullah resigned from the cabinet for what they called the undemocratic attitude of the party`s district organisation.

They have also sent copies of their resignation to the press club here. Giving details, Mr Ahmad said that they would send their written resignations to party`s provincial president Ameer Haider Hoti and general secretary Sardar Hussain Babal(.

He claimed that none of the cabinet members except Shafiullah had addressed the ANP workers` convention held at Munda Jandol on Monday last at the hujra of former MPA Bahadar Khan. The ANP Lower Dir cabinet members had boycotted the event, saying the provincial leaders should have addressed the workers at Munda Ground instead of the hujra (guesthouse).

STUDENTS` PROTEST: The students of government degree college,UmaraKhan,inSamarBaghonWednesday staged a protest rally and blocked the Munda-Samar Bagh road briefly against boycott of classes by their teachers.

The students came out of the college and blocked the road at Sadbar Kalay. They chanted slogans against the government for its failure to satisfy the college teachers so that they could end the class boycott.

Meanwhile, farmers in Lower Dir said that people in the region couldfacefood shortage nextyearifdroughtlike situation persisted.

Talking to this correspondent, the farmers said they were unable to sow wheat crop because of no rain for months. Attaullah, a farmer from Osakai Adenzai, said he had bought wheat seeds and fertilizer a month ago and was waiting for rain.

He said that all the farmers in his area depended on rainwater for agriculture. Samar Bagh tehsil nazim Saeed Ahmad has appealed to the people of Jandol to offer prayers for rain for three days from Thursday (today). Correspondent
