TOBA TEK SINGH: Two persons were injured when a train rammed a maize-laden truck at the unmanned level crossing near Chak 326-GB early Friday morning.
The rail traffic remained suspended for three hours after the accident.
The Chuttiana police said the Pakistan Express heading for Rawalpindi from Karachi crossed the Shorkot Cantonment railway station and met with an accident when a truck got in its way while trying to go pass a level crossing on Toba-Shorkot Cantonment Road, about 23 kilometres off here. As the train drove into the truck, driver Muhammad Yar and cleaner Ajmal Hussain were injured and taken to the Cantonment hospital. The maize bags were all over the place after the truck was reduced to a mangled structure.
It took officials three hours to replace the train engine after one was brought from Khanewal. — Correspondent
