CHARSADDA: Police on Monday arrested five members of an inter-provincial gang of car-lifters.

The Sar Dheri police arrested the criminals, including the gang’s ring leader, Charsadda DPO Shafiullah informed reporters here.

He was flanked by other police officials. He said the gang was involved in several cases of car-lifting, robberies and other heinous crimes.

Mr Shaifullah said a police party arrested the car thieves while travelling in a car. He said the gang members had strangled two taxi drivers and threw their bodies in open fields.

The DPO identified the ring leader as Ashfaq of Sar Dheri and other gang members as Aimal of Quetta, Hafiz Fahad of Nowshera, Qaiser and Asif of Swabi. He said name of fifth outlaw could not be disclosed.

Mr Shafiullah said lifted vehicles of slain taxi drivers, arms and other items were seized from their possession.
