KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead by a citizen in Orangi Town on Sunday, police and rescue services said.

They said that two suspects attempted to commit a robbery at a shop near the Al-Fatah graveyard in Sector-10. They entered the shop and tried to hold the shopkeeper at gunpoint when he took out his licensed pistol and opened fire on them.

One of the suspects suffered critical bullet wounds and was transported to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. His accomplice managed to escape.

The police said his identity could not be known till late in the night.
