1,000 apply for 152 education dept posts

MANSEHRA: More than 1,000 candidates, including people with disabilities, have applied for 152 lower grade posts in the education department.
These posts of watchmen and other Class-IV employees exist at different schools in Mansehra district.
District education officer Nisar Mohammad told reporters here on Thursday that interview of candidates for the 152 posts had begun.
He said on the first day of interview, the `appointment committee` formed by the EDO interviewed the employees` sons and people with disabilities at the Government High School for Boys, Chitti Dehri.
The DEO said 198 people had applied for the posts on the employees` son quota, which was 25 percent of the total seats, and 48 on three seats reserved for the people with disabilities on two percent quota.
He said the people, who had applied on open merit, were called for interview today (Friday).
Member of the appointment committee and Government High School, Sum, headmaster Shad Mohammad said interviews of the candidates would be completed by the appointment committee comprising various high school headmasters in two or three days.
Zubair Iqbal, a personwith disabilities, said he was a geologist but had applied for a Class-IV post after failingtogetan appropriatejob.
Mohammad Bilal, a visually impaired person, said he and other special persons wanted the government to increase job quota for them from two percent to five percent in line with their high population.

They said Malik Aman killed Shazia around three weeks after marriage by firing gunshots, and fled.
The police said the deceased was the suspect`s second wife and that he had divorced first wife before contracting second marriage.
They said the Saddar police had lodged an FIR against the suspected killer before launching investigation to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
STAY BULLET KILLS WOMAN: A stray bullet killed a woman walking by during an exchange of Hre between two rival groups in Attershisha area of Mansehra district on Thursday.
Rif f at Bibi, who was riding a taxicab with mother, succumbed to bullet injuries at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.
The police said four people from both groups also suffered injuries and were under treatment at the Kath.
They said they had begun search for suspects after lodging an FIR against them.
