LAHORE: Corps Commander Lt-Gen Naweed Zaman called on Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana at the Governor House here on Tuesday and discussed the overall law and order situation of the country and important national affairs.
During the meeting which continued for over an hour, the Afghan issue and its likely impacts particularly on tribal belt of the country also came under discussion as Mr Rajwana had worked on the subject when he had been a member of the Senate.
The governor believed that as the country was passing through a tough time all the political parties should unite to overcome the challenges of energy crisis, unemployment, inflation as well as to strengthen the democratic system.
The corps commander said the Pakistan Army was fully determined to eliminate terrorism and the miscreants would be dealt with an iron hand.
He congratulated Mr Rajwana on assuming the responsibilities as the governor and expressed his good wishes for his success as the constitutional head of the province.
Meanwhile, the governor will be leaving for native town Multan on May 23 (Saturday) where he will address the bar association on May 25 (Monday).
