Ramazan bazaars to have counters for the disabled

LAHORE: The divisional administration has asked the officials of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib to establish special counters for senior and disabled citizens at all Ramazan bazaars that are likely to be operational by June 15.

`If the respective town municipal administrations set up these counters, senior and disabled citizens can shop with convenience, Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Waseema Umar said while presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday.

She said a mechanism for the procurement and supply of essential commodities to all Ramazan bazaars was also being prepared. And soon all TMAs and marketcommittees would receive guidelines in this regard, she added.

She said since various private companies were interested in placing stalls in bazaars, the officials should first see the rates of commodities they were offering.

`If their rates will be cheaper than open market`s, they can be given space in bazaars,` she said.

ARRESTS: Price control magistrates of the CDGL had29shopkeepers arrested for overcharging.

According to a spokesman, the officials also imposed a fine of Rs52,600 on others.
