Villager arrested for thrashing polio team

OKARA: Police on Thursday registered a case and arrested a man for allegedly thrashing a polio team at Khablanwali village near Basirpur.
As per first information report (FIR), complainant Abdul Wahid Prince said he along with Lady Health Worker Tahira Shahbaz and volunteer Muhammad Shahbaz were administering polio vaccine to children when a resident, Ahmad Bhutta, offered resistance.
He said Ahmed along with his four accomplices refused anti-polio drops and allegedly manhandling the team.
Police have registered a case under section 353, 506, 186 of the PPC and section 25/D of theTelegraph Act and arrested the suspect.

Reports said Umer Farooq was on his way by a bike after college classes when Shabbar riding a car along with four unidentified accomplices attacked him with iron rods, causing him injuries.
He was referred to Lahore from DHQ hospital because of head injuries. The suspects wanted to prevent him from recording statement in connection with a case registered in 2018 by Saddar police.
A case was registered against attackers.
