LARKANA: Four members of a family — three brothers and their sister — were killed and another two persons received burns when a house caught fire in Saboo Burirro village within the jurisdiction of the Gaibidero police station late Monday night.

Qambar-Shahdadkot Deputy Commissioner Assadullah Abro told Dawn on Tuesday that the fire was caused by a candle lit inside the thatched house belonging to Ranjhan Burirro. It spread to a tent pitched within the vicinity of the house and engulfed the entire area.

Four children — Abrar, 10, Aijaz, 9, Oshaque, 8, and their sister, Ruqiyat, 7 — were trapped inside and burnt alive. Ranjhan Burirro and Hajiran, 11, also received burns but were stated to be out of danger.

Sources said that charred remains of the four children, along with those of eight goats and buffaloes, were found after the fire reduced the house to ashes.

The deceased were buried in a graveyard within the village.
