ECP takes notice of transfer of five naib tehsildars

TOBA TEK SINGH: District Monitoring Officer (DMO) for NA-108 by-election Syed Basit Ali has taken notice of the transfer of five revenue department naib tehsildars from the divisional headquarters of Faisalabad to the other other districts.

In a letter written by the DMO on Thursday to the Faisalabad commissioner, he said it has come to his notice that although transfers and postings are banned in Faisalabad due to the by-election for NA-108 being held on Oct 16, naib tehsildars Raja Irshad Ali, MuhammadAmeer Ali Khan, Syed Nasim Akhtar, Ghulam Mustafa and Muhammad Arif were transferred from Faisalabad which is tantamount to the violation of directions by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The letter directed that transfers of all five naib tehsildars be cancelled forthwith till the completion of the proceedings of by-election.

FLOUR QUOTA: Faisalabad District Food Controller Waqar Yousaf suspended on Thursday the quota of two flour mills supplying less than the ñxed quota ofnour.

He inspected various flour mills and found that Shams and Punjab flourmills had misused the wheat supplied to them.

Meanwhile, Faisalabad DC Imran Hamid Sheikh said that the prices of fruits and vegetables had decreased due to the monitoring of the district administration in the markets and bazaars.

FIRE: Hosiery items and raw materials were gutted on Thursday when a three-storey hosiery manufacturing machinery, factory godown and offices caught fire from the spark of a power generator in Jinnah Colony near the post office at Faisalabad.

Rescue 1122 firefighters extinguished the fire, but they had to face great trouble in reaching theburning building due to the narrow streets.

INJURED: Three women, including two sisters, were injured critically on Thursday night when their neighbourer opened fire on them in Chak 76 RB, Khurrianwala.

They were rushed to the Allied Hospital. They were identified as Shumaila Bibi, her sister Rahat Perveen and their neighbourer woman Nargis Bibi. The police said Mahmood Moodi asked a labourer working in two injured sisters` house to remove earth from the street over which harsh words were exchanged between accused and women.
